MusicQuest 2009
25 professional musicians, 5 locations across the UK, 50 primary schools, a lorry load of musical instruments and nearly 5000 children making music.....welcome to MusicQuest 2009!
MusicQuest is Music Makers' flagship project and uses classical music to inspire children, help develop confidence and boost self esteem.
Each year, over the course of a week nearly 5000 children aged 7 to 11 from disadvantaged schools across the UK are visited by members of The Philharmonia Orchestra and participate in workshops. The children learn about the orchestra, the different instruments and have the opportunity to have a go on instruments kindly provided by Yamaha.
The children then congregate at their local music hall and are entertained with an interactive children's concert. Many of the children have had minimum music education and the nature of their situation means classroom lessons are often concentrated on the core subjects, therefore to help with this teachers are given a pack with ways to use music across the curriculum to help bring alive subjects such as Maths, English, Science and History.

MusicQuest is organised by The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts and is funded by Classic FM's charity Music Makers.
