A few words from the Managing Director
Monday 6 April 2009
Welcome to our brand new website. We've been working on it for almost a year now. As well as looking completely different, it's also been built using completely new site architecture. I'll spare you the details at this point (principally because I don't actually understand them myself), but our technical people tell me that this means that the site will be faster, more reliable and better looking. We'll also be able gradually to introduce new features over the coming months.
One of the big changes behind the scenes is that the technology that makes the site work is based at our studios at Leicester Square in London, rather than half way round the world in California. If nothing else, our trans-Atlantic phone bill should be a bit cheaper over the coming months.
We've spent a lot of time talking and listening to people who used our old site. Many of the suggestions we received have been incorporated into what you have before you. If you were one of the people who spent time helping us, then a big thank you. I hope that you feel that your hard work was worthwhile, now that you can see the fruits of your labours.
To make sure that you keep in touch with what's going on, I'm going to be blogging here on a regular basis. I won't be updating the blog every single day, but I do promise that as soon as I've got something to tell you about, you'll be able to read it here.
This will be the place where I will flag up some of the big things that are coming up on Classic FM. Rather than only talking about programmes on air though, I thought that it might be interesting to widen out the blog a little. I'm really lucky in my job that I get to travel around the country listening to amazing classical music and meeting fascinating classical musicians. So, I'll do my best to share some of those experiences with you as well. In the meantime, I hope that you enjoy using our new site.
