Chopin Unwrapped at Kings Place
Chopin Unwrapped at Kings Place is an unprecedented live concert series of the complete music of Frédéric Chopin curated by pianist Martino Tirimo.
Celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of the composer, this unique series presents the composer's entire output, including the chamber music, songs and piano concertos in chamber version in concerts which run across week-long celebrations in February, March and June of this year.
For the series' opening week in February, the concerts featured a solo recital by Tirimo of the first known composition by Chopin, Polonaise in G minor Op., which was composed when Chopin was just seven-years-old. Also featured in week one were two pieces rarely performed: Souvenir de Paganini and the Valse Melancolique which has become a favourite discovery of Tirimo's.
Chopin Unwrapped is produced in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute. Each concert will be recorded for and broadcast exclusively on the Classic FM's Full Works Concert with John Brunning .
Thanks to support from the Polish Cultural Institute in London, a number of distinguished Polish musicians will take part in the series including the soprano Iwona Sobotka and the Silesian String Quartet .
