Henry IV at Shakespeare's Globe
Shakespeare’s Globe presents its first productions of Shakespeare’s masterpieces Henry IV Part 1 and Henry IV Part 2, directed by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Dominic Dromgoole.
Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 combine compelling power politics with the hilarious antics of Shakespeare's greatest comic creation, Falstaff, played by Olivier-Award winning actor Roger Allam.
The outstanding cast also includes Jamie Parker as Prince Hal, William Gaunt as Worcester in Part 1 and Shallow in Part 2, and Oliver Cotton in the title role of Henry IV. The two parts of Henry IV mark a turning point in Shakespeare’s career, revealing new depths of storytelling and realism, and portray a glorious, epic landscape of Britain.
Shakespeare’s Globe’s Kings and Rogues theatre season also includes Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Henry VIII and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The Globe will present two new plays – Anne Boleyn by Howard Brenton and Bedlam by Nell Leyshon. In addition to its main stage programme, the Globe’s two regional small-scale tours from 2009 return to exchange venue circuits - The Comedy of Errors and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Henry IV parts 1 and 2 will take place at Shakespeare's Globe from 6 June to 3 October.
