Harry Christophers and The Sixteen

This year Harry Christophers and The Sixteen celebrate their tenth Choral Pilgrimage.

First established as a millennium project, The Choral Pilgrimage has since breathed life into the stones of the great cathedrals and churches across the UK from Swansea to Edinburgh, with the music that was written for those spaces; and it will be reaching a bigger audience than ever before with the inclusion of new concert venues in Croydon, Milton Keynes and Peterborough.

In an ambitious undertaking for the tenth anniversary, Harry and members of The Sixteen, led by founder member Christopher Royall, will make a fundraising pilgrimage walk from Guildford Cathedral to Canterbury Cathedral. Following the North Downs Way, and incorporating some of Chaucer’s pilgrim path, they will depart on Sunday 25 July 2010 and arrive on Monday 2 August 2010.

In partnership with the National Centre for Early Music, hundreds of school children will have the chance to sing with The Sixteen at special matinée performances which incorporate pieces from The Choral Pilgrimage.  As in previous years Dr Paul Whittaker OBE will sign-interpret some of The Choral Pilgrimage performances and run workshops for young adults and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing.

SING WITH THE SIXTEEN!

Have you always dreamed of singing with The Sixteen? Now you can!

In collaboration with Voicelab, we will be performing a "Massive Messiah" on Saturday 14 May at Southbank Centre. We are seeking 750 singers to join Harry Christophers, The Sixteen, and a team of top soloists to perform Handel's most famous work.

Tickets are available via Southbank Centre only.
