Dartington International Summer School, Devon

For five weeks of the summer, Dartington Hall just outside Totnes in South Devon provides the idyllic location for amateur musicians and singers of all ages and abilities to mingle with professional musicians and composers at their famous music festival and summer school. The Summer School offers a range of courses, including classical guitar tuition from Classic FM's Craig Ogden, and presents a varied programme of concerts. This year's programme features BRIT Award Winner Jack Liebeck, Stile Antico, Joanna McGregor, Emma Kirkby, Victoria Mullova and Matthew Barley Ensemble. Tickets are available for purchase by the general public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Edinburgh International Festival


13 August - 5 September

Artists from California, New York and New England, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Argentina, Samoa, New Zealand, Australia, as well as Spain and Holland will descend on Edinburgh this summer for Edinburgh International Festival 2010, which explores the modern-day cultures of the ‘New World’. The festival also sees Harry Christophers and The Sixteen return to Usher Hall on 24 August for a performance of Henry Purcell's The Indian Queen.
