Claire Jones
Born in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in 1985, Claire began her musical education at the age of seven before continuing to study the harp at the Royal College of Music with Ieuan Jones and the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Skaila Kanga.
In 2007, Claire was appointed Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales and regularly performs for the Royal Family and distinguished guests at the Royal Palaces. Claire made her concerto debut with the English Chamber Orchestra in the same year.
Notable performances have included a concerto at the Royal Opera House to celebrate His Royal Highness' 60th birthday, as a soloist with Maestro Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Ballet, and a sold out recital at Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, in 2009.
In 2010, Claire performed the private premiere of the ‘Highgrove Suite’, a work written by Patrick Hawes in celebration of Prince Charles’ Foundation for Childrren and the Arts. The album was released by Classic FM to great acclaim, with the recital featuring in a major BBC2 documentary on Highgrove House.
Claire has collaborated with a great number of major artists, including Bryn Terfel, Alfie Boe and William Bennett OBE, and balances professional commitments with school workshops to promote the harp and inspire the next generation of young harpists.
Her most recent album 'Harp Concertos', was recorded with the English Chamber Orchestra, flautist William Bennett and conductor Paul Watkins. The critically acclaimed work includes pieces by Gliere, Debussy and Mozart.
