Miranda Sex Garden
Biography
Jocelyn West, Kelly McCuster and Katharine Blake became Miranda Sex Garden having signed to Mute Records after their vocals were featured on Barry Adamson's album, 'Il Solitaro'.
Following changes in the London band's lineup, Miranda Sex Garden, whose sound is best described as gothic rock, industrial music, became regular performers at London's fetish emporium The Torture Garden and at Lunatic Fringe Nights at Holborn's Leisure Lounge.
Music
Since then, Miranda Sex Garden have continued to diversify their music. Their first single 'Gush forth my tears' was released in 1991, followed shortly by their debut album 'Madra', featuring 'Elizabethan pop songs...intense poetry about unrequited love'.
While their lyrics remain 'steeped in love, yearning, sex and loss of innocence', Jocelyn's departure in 1992 marked a new style to their music.
This was reflected in their next album 'Suspira', which featured an unsettling version of David Lynch's 'In Heaven (Everything Up Here is Fine)' from the album 'Eraserhead'.
Subsequently, the girls released 'Fairytales Of Slavery', and the single `Peepshow', which was launched with a performance by the band in the window of Tower Records, Piccadilly Circus.
