Vilde Frang
Biography
Born in Norway in August 1986, Vilde has studied at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, with Kolja Blacher at Musikhochschule Hamburg and Ana Chumachenco at the Kronberg Academy.
Since she was asked by Mariss Jansons at the age of twelve to debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Vilde Frang has established a reputation as one of the most promising young soloists to emerge from Scandinavia in recent years.
Highlights among her recent and forthcoming engagements include performances with Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and NHK Symphony in Tokyo.
She appears as a recitalist and chamber musician at festivals in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lockenhaus, Rheingau, Dubrovnik, Cheltenham, Verbier and Lucerne.
After her 2007 debut with London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vilde was immediately booked for a concert with the orchestra and its principal conductor, Vladimir Jurowski at the Royal Festival Hall in the 2009 season, followed by a recital at Wigmore Hall. Her debut recording as EMI Classics' Young Artist of the Year 2010, featuring violin concertos by Prokofiev and Sibelius, was greeted with acclaim by critics throughout the world and was named Best Classical Release in the Norwegian Grammy Awards.
