Faryl Smith - Faryl
It's been a rollercoaster year for Faryl Smith.
Little over 18 months ago Faryl Smith was an ordinary schoolgirl from Northamptonshire who liked to sing in the choir, play football, and shop with her friends - the next minute Simon Cowell was praising her in front of a national television audience, calling her "literally one in a million" and "the most talented youngster I've ever heard."
Soon after her success on Britain's Got Talent in front of judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden, the teenage mezzo-soprano signed a record deal with Universal Classics and Jazz worth £2.3 million - the most valuable contract ever awarded to such a young artist - and performed live at the Classical BRIT Awards at the Royal Albert Hall.
Her debut album, released in March 2009 features favourites such as 'Amazing Grace' and 'Somewhere' from West Side Story, and Gounod's 'Ave Maria' - the piece which brought Faryl so much acclaim on Britain's Got Talent.
