Dame Kiri Te Kanawa - An Exclusive Interview

Thursday, 25 August 2011 09:36

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa has been a leading light in the opera world since her sensational debut at Covent Garden in 1971. Unsurprisingly we were thrilled when this legendary soprano said she could spare a few minutes to speak to us.

40 years into her career, Dame Kiri is as busy as ever, still performing and now mentoring, teaching and fundraising.

Dame Kiri devotes significant energy to worthy causes, and just next week she'll be giving a special concert in aid of the Rose Road Children’s Appeal at The Mayflower in Southampton.

We also found out about the music she likes to perform and one of her favourite composers. It’s not all work though, as Dame Kiri tells us that she has a new cuddly addition to the family!

Listen to Dame Kiri’s interview with Anne-Marie Minhall now.

A Special Evening with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in aid of the Rose Road Children's Appeal takes place at The Mayflower, Southampton on Sunday 4 September at 7.30pm. Find out more and book tickets here.
