Classic FM’s Alex James wins a BRIT Award

The A to Z of Classic FM Music presenter scooped Outstanding Contribution to British Music with his band Blur at last night’s ceremony.

Classic FM presenter Alex James and Blur walked away with a BRIT Award at last night’s annual ceremony. The band picked up the gong for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, the night’s biggest and most prestigious award.

Blur also closed the evening with a five-song set, taking in highlights from their long and varied career. The group also used the occasion to announce they’ll be treading the boards at London’s Hyde Park on August 12 to close the London 2012 Olympics.

Another big winner at the annual pop showcase was Adele, the singer/songwriter from Tottenham, who won the award for Best Female Singer and Best British Album for her wildly successful second album, 21.
