Gheorghiu and Alagna to reprise La Boheme roles

Angela Gheorghiu has announced that she will star opposite her partner Roberto Alagna in a revival of the Royal Opera House's famous production of La Bohème.

The run will mark the twentieth anniversary of the show, a run which launched Gheorghiu's career and kicked off the romance with Alagna, her husband.

The pair's performance of the Mimi and Rodolpho roles were widely acclaimed at the time. The eagerly awaited new staging will also be the first time the pair have shared a stage since their temporary separation in 2009.

Gheorghiu broke the news to Classic FM's Mark Forrest for her forthcoming interview in next month's Classic FM Magazine, and confirmed the story at yesterday's Royal Opera House press conference for the launch of their Cinema Season.

“Can I tell everyone?”, Gheorghiu asked the event's PR. “Roberto and I will be performing La Bohème next year in Covent Garden!”.
