Gramophone Awards - nominees revealed

Gramophone have announced the nominees for this year's prestigious awards ceremony. The annual celebration of recorded classical music will take place on October 6 at London's Dorcheser Hotel.

The lists of nominees and awards are wide and varied, but the most hotly anticipated category – Gramophone's Artist of the Year 2011 – will see the LA Phil's music director Gustavo Dudamel go head-to-head with superstar pianist Lang Lang. Mitsuko Uchida, Alison Balsom and Iván Fischer are also nominated in the category.
