The Marriage of Figaro

Widely regarded as the greatest comic opera ever written, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro whisks us through the whirlwind events of ‘one crazy day’ (to borrow Beaumarchais’s title for his original play) as Figaro, the Count’s valet, attempts to wed his beloved Susanna, the Countess’s maid, before their philandering master can bed her first.
The Marriage of Figaro opens at the London Coliseum on 5 October 2011 for 10 performances – Oct 5, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 & Nov 3, 5, 10 at 7pm & Oct 29 at 6pm

Eugine Onegin

A deliciously intimate yet devastatingly poignant depiction of unbridled passions and unrequited love, Tchaikovsky’s lyrical masterpiece returns to ENO in a new staging that reunites director Deborah Warner and Music Director Edward Gardner for the first time since their acclaimed collaboration on Britten’s Death in Venice in May 2007.

Tosca

A fast-moving story of torture and murder, Puccini’s Tosca is a tense thriller set in Rome at the time of Napoleon’s invasion of Italy. Directed by celebrated American soprano Catherine Malfitano – herself one of the leading Toscas of recent decades.

Der Rosenkavalier

A bittersweet blend of young love and mid-life melancholy, Richard Strauss’ charming Viennese comedy returns to the London Coliseum in David McVicar’s delightfully detailed staging, first seen in 2008.

The Death of Klinghoffer
25 Feb 12 - 9 Mar 12
Following highly successful productions of John Adams’s Nixon in China and Doctor Atomic, ENO presents the London stage premiere of the American composer’s controversial ‘docu-opera’ about the killing of a Jewish-American tourist during the hijacking of a Mediterranean cruise liner by Palestinian militants.
