Jimmy Osmond
Jimmy Osmond, has sold over 100 million records worldwide as part of the Osmonds.
Osmond is a platinum-selling solo artist in his own right and soared to fame as the youngest performer ever to have a number one single in the UK singles chart in 1972, with 'Long Haired Lover from Liverpool'.
He has made a number of guest appearances on UK television before appearing on Pop Stat to Opera Star. These include the reality television show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 1995 where he finished in fourth place, and appearances on All Star Family Fortunes and the celebrity version of Come Dine With Me.
Jimmy's most recent musical roles include a stint as Teen Angel in a West End production of Grease and playing Billy Flynn in the touring production of Chicago.
Jimmy waxes lyrical about his opera challenge:
"I came over here to meet the producers and they said, 'just for fun, go and vocalise with our coach.' It would never have crossed my mind that I could hit a big note, but I did and the coach said, 'that's cool'.
"This might be beyond me - I know it's sink or swim. But I'm just glad to be invited to be one of the fish in the aquarium. The others are beautiful clown fish and angel fish. And I'm a sucker fish, one of those guys who swims around cleaning out the tank!"
