The MD's Blog - Friday 12 June

We’ve got some new programmes starting this weekend, which I hope that you’ll enjoy.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, John Brunning will be on air from 11pm until 2am on Friday nights and from midnight until 2am on Saturday nights, with the weekend instalments of his new Relaxing Classics programme.

Tim Lihoreau , who has been the voice of late nights at the weekends for the past year or so, moves to become the presenter of early mornings at the weekend. You’ll be able to hear him every Saturday and Sunday between 4am and 7am.

For the next few weeks, Myleene Klass is in the jungle in Costa Rica, presenting the American version of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, so Katie Derham is sitting in for Myleene on the Weekend Breakfast show between 7am and 9am.

Anne-Marie Minhall will be here on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm with the perfect musical accompaniment to your weekend afternoons . I’m particularly looking forward to hearing Annie’s new Sunday afternoon show. In response to comments from many listeners, this will be a far more music intensive programme than we’ve previously broadcast at this time.

And there is a new day and time for the Classic FM Magazine programme with Mark Forrest, which moves from its Friday night slot to make way for Relaxing Classics. Mark wi’ll be on air every Sunday night at 9pm, when he’ll be joined by some of the biggest names in classical music and the arts. This week, he will be talking to the tenor Mark Padmore and the brilliant young violinist Jack Liebeck , who’s just released an excellent new recording of the Dvorak Violin Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra on the Sony Classical label.

Have a great weekend!
