Win Pictures Reframed Tickets
Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and artist Robin Rhode teamed up for a unique audio-visual project entitled Pictures Reframed. Centred around Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, it combines music, film and still imagery.
Classic FM has tickets to the London performance of Pictures Reframed, on 4 December at 9.30pm at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre. Before the concert, the winner and a guest will be treated to dinner and a bottle of champagne at Skylon restaurant.
The winner will also receive a signed deluxe limited edition hardback book. The book contains both the CD and a DVD, which features a filmed performance of Pictures Reframed as well as a documentary on the collaborative process.
Five runners up will each receive a pair of tickets to the performance on 4 December at 9.30pm, as well as a copy of the standard Pictures Reframed CD.
Located within the Royal Festival Hall, Skylon offers a spectacular panorama of London's skyline with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the River Thames. A destination restaurant and a relaxed, informal grill centre around a raised bar serving classic and contemporary cocktails, perfect for day and night.
Pictures Reframed saw Andsnes playing in derelict factories and disused shipyards, and a grand piano was flooded with water for the final scenes of the work. Andsnes met South African-born Rhode in Munich in September 2007 and ideas for the programme have been evolving ever since. The project has been called 'a stunning achievement' by San Francisco Classical Voice and Andsnes has been praised for delivering 'a lucid, beautifully articulated account' (Time ) of Mussorgky's Pictures.
Pictures Reframed will be performed live across the United States and Europe, following the world première on 13 November at New York's Lincoln Centre. For your chance to win tickets to the London performance at 9.30pm on 4 December, simply answer the question below.
