The Gaelic Rings is a collaboration by a group of travel partners whose shared enthusiasm for the Gaelic language and culture has led to the creation of six Rings - or round trips - taking in Islay in the south to Lewis in the north and the West Highland area from Kennacraig to Ullapool.
Aimed at both Gaelic and non-Gaelic speaking visitors, The Gaelic Rings promote the richness of Gaelic language and culture by highlighting the important role Gaelic played in shaping Scotland’s past and its continued relevance in the present day. The Gaelic Rings also promote landscapes, landmarks and areas of historical and modern significance as well as places to visit, stay, eat and drink. Each Ring has its own history and legends and there will be ample opportunity to sample the renowned Gaelic hospitality along the way.
The six Gaelic Rings are –
• Oban, Barra, Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist, Skye and Mallaig
• Oban, Mull, Ardnamurchan and Skye
• Fort William, Skye, North Uist, Berneray, Harris, Lewis and Ullapool
• Kennacraig, Islay, Colonsay and Oban
• Oban, Coll and Tiree
• Mallaig, Muck, Eigg, Rum and Canna
