New summer schedule on Classic FM
We’re bringing you a whole range of new programmes this summer on Classic FM, from Monday 28 June.
On weekdays, Mark Forrest moves from the afternoon programme to host a newly extended weekday Brighter Breakfast show (6am – 9am) while John Brunning, one of the first voices to be heard on Classic FM, presents a new early evening show (5pm – 8pm), moving from his previous late-night slot.
There are extended daytime programmes for Classic FM favourites Simon Bates (9am – 1pm) and Jamie Crick (1pm – 5pm) and the Classic FM Full Works Concert moves to an earlier time slot, starting at 8pm, presented by new host Jane Jones. The Full Works Concert will continue to broadcast the greatest classical performances played in full, without interruption.
The perfect way to finish your day, Smooth Classics with Margherita Taylor moves to a new 10pm time slot and is extended to four hours.
There is also a new look for weekends on Classic FM, starting with a new Brighter Breakfast show (6am – 9am), presented by the station’s multi award-winning Creative Director, Tim Lihoreau.
The Official Classic FM Chart with Mark Forrest (Saturday, 9am – 12pm) is extended by an hour, to allow greater depth of coverage of new classical releases and there is also an extra hour for the Sunday morning show hosted by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (9am – 12pm).
We are delighted to welcome the award-winning presenter, author and scholar John Suchet to the station on Sunday lunchtimes. From Sunday 4th July, John will be hosting a new music show from 12pm to 3pm. Away from news journalism, John’s great passion is the life and work of Beethoven. He has become one of the UK’s leading experts on the composer, writing five books about the man and his music.
There are also new shows for Classic FM’s Composer-in-Residence Howard Goodall who presents a musically wide-ranging Saturday Concert programme (7pm – 10pm) and Anne-Marie Minhall who hosts a weekend afternoon music show (Saturday, 3pm – 6pm and Sunday, 5pm – 8pm).
The New CD Show moves to 6pm on Saturday evenings, presented by David Mellor, who also hosts a new Sunday night programme (8pm – 10pm), playing many of classical music’s greatest ever performances. The Sony Radio Academy and Arqiva Commercial Radio Award-winning A to Z of Classic FM Music with Alex James moves to a new Sunday afternoon slot (3pm – 5pm) and Myleene Klass begins a new laid-back late night music show on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 10pm.
