The Day Dawn by composer Sally Beamish has so many extraordinary things about it. It's based on an old Shetland tune played on the winter solstice; the original version was created for amateur musicians; and most importantly perhaps it was inspired by a tragedy which prompted thoughts of new beginnings. It's professional version is being premiered at Kings Place on Friday.
