2 May: Emma Kirkby is Britain’s best known early music soprano. Famous for not aspiring to be a performer, she was in an earlier life a teacher and amateur singer, but now aged 61 she has made over 100 recordings and is a Dame of the British Empire. She continues to tour and sing live as much as ever before and will be appearing at a number of festivals this spring/summer. She chats to Mark about why British music festivals are so special, what the question is that she’s asked the most and why she never gets bored.
