Margherita Taylor

Biography

Margherita is one of the most in-demand stars in broadcasting, equally at home presenting for Classic FM, interviewing the Prime Minister or fronting a TV pop show.

As well as hosting Smooth Classics at Six from Monday to Sunday, she hosts the weekend Morning Show on sister station Capital Radio in London.

After graduating from the University of Central England in Birmingham, Margherita began her radio career at the city’s BRMB before moving to Capital and returning to London - her home city - a year later. Margherita first appeared on Classic FM in April 2007, presenting the six-part series 'When Classic Meets Jazz', which examined what happens when jazz and classical music come together.

As well as her thriving radio career she has worked on numerous TV shows including Channel 4’s pop strand T4 and BBC1’s Top Of The Pops.

She is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and a patron of 95.8 Capital FM’s children's charity Help A London Child. Among the highlights of her career, Margherita was chosen to host the live announcement of London’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympic Games from Trafalgar Square on behalf of all of the independent commercial radio networks, and was on the judging panel for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize. One of her most interesting assignments was a personal request from the former Prime Minister Tony Blair to interview him while he was in office.
