Tony Robinson

Tony Robinson made his stage debut at the age of 13 in the original production of the musical 'Oliver'.

Originally one of Fagin's gang, Tony was drafted in to take on the role of the Artful Dodger when the actor playing him didn't turn up.

Tony went on to study at the Central School of Speech and Drama, working as a theatre director after graduating.  He went on to join the Chichester Festival Theatre, the RSC and the National Theatre.  Appearances on TV followed, most notably in the role of Baldrick in Blackadder.  In recent years, Tony has become almost as well known as the presenter of Channel 4’s Time Team.  In addition to his TV work, Tony is the author of 17 children’s books.

Tony has been awarded Honorary Doctorates by the Open University, Exeter University and Oxford Brookes, and Honorary MAs by Bristol University and the University of East London.
