The Classical BRITS 2010
One of the biggest events in the classical calendars is finally here: the Classical BRIT Awards take place on Thursday at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Organised by the British Phonographic Industry, these awards have been given to some of the biggest musical talents. Among those honoured in past years are conductor Sir Simon Rattle, violinist Nigel Kennedy, sopranos Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming and Anna Netrebko as well as the tenors Placido Domingo and José Carreras and the bass baritone Bryn Terfel.
Even legends of the pop world have found themselves recognised – Sir Paul McCartney’s classical work Ecce Cor Meum was a previous winner of a Classical BRIT statuette.
Of equal importance, the awards also showcase up-and-coming artists and can act as a springboard for future talent.
In Saturday’s BRITS programme, Anne-Marie Minhall will have a full round-up of the winners, as well as all the backstage gossip, and reactions from the stars as they step off the stage.
Join Anne-Marie Minhall on Saturday evening from 9-10pm as she reveals the winners and news from the eagerly-awaited event with this special programme dedicated to the Classical BRIT Awards.
