What's it like to work at Classic FM?

Classic FM is an exciting and vibrant company to work for. Everyone, whatever their role, has a passion for radio. Whilst our programming is all about relaxing, for our staff we like to keep the energy levels high and the creativity flowing, but that doesn't mean we don't work hard. Despite our informal approach, determination and drive are key elements of any position. This applies to all our teams - those in the support functions must also be comfortable working within a creative and artistic environment whilst being willing to 'get involved'.

What do I need to work in radio?

In any role within the radio industry you are going to have to be dedicated, show passion and energy, and creativity. Naturally you'll have to be a good communicator and appreciate the benefits of teamwork. We aren't a company that does things because 'that's the way they've always been done', but one that works in the 'here and now', reinventing ourselves as we go along.

What is Classic FM looking for in applicants?

We receive a high number of CVs, so we're looking for all of the above as a starting point. If you're looking to get into a programming role then you'll generally need previous experience. If you're just starting out you might want to check out The Radio Academy website or maybe the CRCA. If you think you would be a success in sales then you will need to demonstrate drive and determination as well as being 'tuned in' to what our listeners want.
