John Wilson Orchestra National Tour
John Wilson and the Orchestra reunite Sir Thomas Allen, Kim Criswell, Sarah Fox and Curtis Stigers for a national tour celebrating the classic MGM film musicals.
In August 2009, John Wilson and the John Wilson Orchestra caused a sensation and captured the imagination of the British public with a live television broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall of a celebration of the MGM film musicals. In November 2010, John and the Orchestra will reunite the original cast to perform a national tour.
The sumptuous sounds of the MGM Studio Orchestra will be revived by John Wilson, who will pay tribute to, among others, composers George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Harry Warren, Jerome Kern, Andre Previn and the great Hollywood arrangers Conrad Salinger, Johnny Green and Nelson Riddle.
The concerts will feature some of Hollywoood’s best loved music from the MGM film musicals including ‘High Society’, ‘Singin' in the Rain’, 'An American in Paris’, and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ to name a few. Much of this music will be heard in the concert hall for the first time in its original version in scores newly reconstructed by John Wilson.
