Friday, 19 August 2011 10:52

Named as one of the world’s 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine in 2009, and the inspiration for thousands of young pianists around the world, it’s hard to believe that Lang Lang is just 29 years old.

Needless to say, we jumped at the chance to chat to this piano whizz over the phone, and find out about one of his own heroes – Franz Liszt, who’s the subject of his forthcoming album. We began by asking him where he had first encountered the composer’s music – and were a little surprised by the response!

Also, find out why Lang Lang’s preferred footwear is his trainers and how he likes to spend his rare free time.

Lang Lang's new album Liszt My Piano Hero is out on September 5. You can hear it before that during the week of August 22, when it will be John Suchet's CD of the Week.
