Tonight, David pays tribute to the soprano Leontyne Price, who celebrates her 85th birthday a week today. David begins the celebrations early by featuring some of the legendary singer’s finest performances; Price’s career began in the 1950s, and she was one of the first African Americans to become a leading artist at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Tonight, we hear some of her finest recordings, from a glittering back-catalogue of operatic gems.
